California’s Division of Workers’ Compensation on Friday released draft regulations to implement a closed drug formulary, a proposal in which drugs on a “preferred” list could be prescribed without preauthorization.
But preferred drugs might still face retrospective review to determine whether prescribing was consistent with medical treatment guidelines, under the proposed regulations. Drugs designated as “non-preferred” would need preauthorization for prescribing, except under certain first-fill situations.
