Labor Committee Passes Medical Payment Study, Work Comp Exemption Bills

The California Senate Committee on Labor and Industrial Relations unanimously passed bills calling for a review of how providers are paid to treat injured workers and revising the criteria for corporate officers to be exempt from mandatory comp coverage. On Wednesday, the committee voted 4-0 to pass Senate Bill 617, by Sen. Steven Bradford, D-Gardena, which would require the Division of Workers’ Compensation to compare possible alternatives to the fee-for-service payment model.
