Bill Would Double Benefits for Injuries Involving Illegal Child Labor, Safety Violations

Iowa employers would be on the hook for double the benefits they otherwise would pay to workers injured in the course of employment in which the employer is found to have violated specific labor laws or rules. Senate File 2100, by Sen. Nate Boulton, D-Des Moines, would require the Workers’ Compensation Commissioner to award benefits in an amount equal to 100% of the benefits otherwise payable when an injury or death involves a violation of the child labor law or a workplace safety violation.
