New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu on Friday signed a bill loosening requirements for firefighters to claim cancer as an occupational disease.
The governor signed Senate Bill 71, which removes statutory language that requires firefighters' claims to involve a type of cancer that is caused by exposure to heat, radiation or known carcinogens.
New Hampshire law presumes cancer is an occupational disease for regular, volunteer, on-call and retired members of fire departments.
