The Montana Department of Labor and Industry is holding a hearing Oct. 11 on rules to implement a 2019 bill requiring certification of workers’ compensation claims examiners.
Gov. Steve Bullock in May signed House Bill 757 making a voluntary certification process mandatory. The bill requires that certifications be renewed every two years. And it allows the department to develop rules implementing a 12-month grace period, allowing time for people working as claims examiners as of Jan. 1, 2019, to take the certification exam.
