The Traveler’s Cos. reported that more than a third of workplace injuries from 2015 through 2019 occurred during a worker’s first year on the job.
Travelers said its review of more than 1.5 million comp claims found overexertion led to 27% of first-year injuries and was the most common cause. Slips, trips and falls accounted for 22% of the first-year injuries, while getting struck by an object accounted for 14%.
The most common injuries of first-year workers were strains and sprains at 38%, fractures at 13% and contusions at 9%.
