DWC Proposes Rule Change to Close Compounding Loophole

The Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation took a step Friday toward closing a loophole in its drug formulary, proposing a rule that would require preauthorization for all prescription drugs created through compounding. Under current rules, preauthorization is not required for compound drugs that contain ingredients listed as “Y” drugs in the Official Disability Guidelines formulary.
