A flurry of legislative activity next week is expected to present California lawmakers with questions about the state's workers' compensation system that are bigger than whether sports teams should be required to provide coverage for cheerleaders.
Of the 700 or so measures introduced to date, Assembly Bill 202 that would mandate cheerleaders be classified as employees so far is the only one that has any bearing on workers' compensation. That could change as the Feb. 27 deadline to introduce legislation approaches.
