UR Exemption Bill Amended to Define Terrorism, Workplace Violence

Amendments to a bill proposing to exempt from utilization review and independent medical review medical treatment for physical and psychological injuries resulting from terrorism and workplace violence would clarify the types of acts that trigger the exemption. Assemblywoman Eloise Reyes, D- San Bernardino, on Thursday amended AB 44 to define “act of terrorism” to mean the unlawful use of force or violence to intimidate or coerce a government or civilians in furtherance of political or social objectives.
