A plan to restructure the workers' compensation court system failed to pass the West Virginia legislature this year, as did a bill to make mental stress a compensable condition for first responders.
But lawmakers did pass one significant piece of workers' comp legislation before they adjourned early this month because of the spreading coronavirus. Senate Bill 545, if signed by the governor, would allow Insurance Commission operating funds to reduce the deficit still found in the Old Fund.
