Employee Misclassification Complaints Up 644% in First Half of 2017

Complaints of employee misclassification were up more than 644% during the first and second quarters of 2017, compared to the first two quarters in 2016, the Industrial Commission said. Senate Bill 407, the Employee Fair Classification Act, will allow the commission’s Employee Classification Section to strengthen collaborations with other agencies to combat misclassification, section Director Bradley Hicks said in a press release.
