House Painter Pleads Guilty to Theft of Benefits

A house painter from Mt. Desert, Maine, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of theft by deception in connection with benefits he received from Maine Employers' Mutual Insurance Co. (MEMIC), the insurer said in a news release on Monday.MEMIC said Jeremy Laurendeau, 35, agreed to pay $9,141 in restitution during a hearing in Ellsworth District Court and to serve 14 days in an alternative sentencing program at Camp Roosevelt in Eddington, Maine.MEMIC said Laurendeau dislocated his shoulder in April 2010 while working for A Team Painting in Bar Harbor, Maine.
