About a third of claims from 2016 to 2020 involved at least one hospital service, but after three years of stability, the number of claims receiving hospital services dropped significantly in 2020, according to a new report by the Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation.
For injury years 2016 through 2019, between 76,786 and 79,004 claims involved hospital services. In 2020, that dropped to 56,703.
Claims with hospital services accounted for 32% of all claims involving medical services in 2020, down from 33% in 2019 and 34% for the three years before that.
