Beaux Bridge Man Sentenced for Lying to Receive LHWCA Benefits

A Beaux Bridge, Louisiana man has been sentenced to six months in prison and six months home confinement for making false statements in order to continue receiving workers’ compensation benefits, according to media reports. U.S. District Judge Elizabeth E. Foote handed down the sentence to Mervin J. Noel on Monday. Noel pleaded guilty last October to one count of making false statements to continue receiving benefits to which he was not entitled under the Longshore and Harbor Workers’ Compensation Act.
