Study: State's Payments per Claim Grew

A 16-state study by the Workers Compensation Research Institute found that payments per claim for the medical care of injured workers in Louisiana were higher and were growing faster than in most states in the study.The study, CompScope Medical Benchmarks for Louisiana, 14th Edition, found that payments per claim grew more than 7% per year from 2006 to 2011.Higher outpatient payments per claim in Louisiana contributed to both the higher average medical payment per claim and the rapid growth rate, according to WCRI.
