The Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services on Friday announced employer assessments will increase in 2021 to cover the costs of administering the state’s workers’ compensation system and enforcing workplace safety laws.
The department said an assessment rate of 9% on direct earned premium is necessary to carry out its responsibilities to regulate, administer and enforce work comp and occupational safety laws. The rate is a 7.14% increase over the 8.4% assessment on earned premium levied in 2020.
