More than two weeks after the California Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board said it would formalize a permanent option for virtual meetings, a Division of Workers’ Compensation plan to return to most in-person hearings by next month has generated mixed reactions from stakeholders.
Industry professionals and attorneys on both sides agreed that returning to in-person hearings could improve efficiency and revive a sense of normalcy, but some said they’re concerned about the safety of stakeholders who have to meet in person while COVID-19 cases remain a concern.
