The West Virginia Supreme Court upheld an award of benefits to a Walmart greeter for the detachment of the retina in his left eye after a fall at work.

Facts: Richard Basham worked as a greeter for Walmart Associates. While he was at work in April 2016, Basham caught his foot on a tile and fell backwards. He sought treatment at a MedExpress facility, where he reported pain in his hip and visual changes in his right eye.
The MedExpress doctor recommended Basham be sent to the nearest emergency room.
