The Virginia Court of Appeals ruled that a trial judge will have to make additional findings as to whether and when an injured state trooper's insurance was reinstated after he returned to his job. Case: Department of State Police v. Brendel, No. 0661-22-3, 07/25/2023, unpublished. Facts and procedural history: Todd Brendel worked for the Department of State Police as a trooper. In January 2018, he injured his shoulders, and the Workers' Compensation Commission awarded him temporary total disability benefits.
