The Workers Compensation Research Institute on Tuesday published results of a study that found comorbidities — health conditions not resulting from a work-related injury — were fairly common on claims for low-back pain.
WCRI reported that hypertension, arthritis, sleep dysfunction, depression and anxiety or panic disorders were the five comorbidities most commonly reported by injured workers.
The study found the following comorbidities were reported by injured workers:
28% reported being diagnosed with hypertension.
21% reported having arthritis.
