MSHA Reports 1 Less Fatality through June 30

The U.S. Mining Safety and Health Administration reported that 18 miners died between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2013. That is one less mining death than was reported during the first half of 2012.U.S. Assistant Labor Secretary Joseph Main said in a press release that nine miners died in coal-mining accidents and nine died in metal- and nonmetal-mining accidents during the six months ended June 30, 2013. One of the miners in each of the two categories was a contractor.
