FAA Issues Safety Alert for Ground Crews

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a Safety Alert for Operators in response to injuries during aircraft towing and ground handling operations. The FAA, in the notice issued Aug. 23, said in one event, a tow driver started moving an aircraft while another worker was removing safety pins from the landing gear. The worker on the ground was struck by the trailing edge flaps of the aircraft and run over by landing gear wheels.
