A Clovis-based company accused of offering bogus workers’ compensation coverage has now been charged with illegally selling hardship waivers for the Affordable Care Act, according to a U.S. District Court filing.
Marcus Asay, founder and controller of the American Labor Alliance, and Antonio Gastelum, the company’s COO, were charged in January 2019 with money laundering, mail fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
The charges stemmed from allegations that American Labor Alliance sold fraudulent workers’ comp plans and other services to employers.
