The decision by Texas Mutual Insurance Co. to launch its own medical provider network is aimed in part at giving the company more opportunities to explore outcomes-based agreements with providers, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
Those agreements, which could include value-based care arrangements such as bundled payments, might arise from a partnership between Texas Mutual and the Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin that is set to start next year, said Jeremiah Bentley, the insurance company’s vice president of marketing.
