Compounded drug prescriptions billed at more than $1,000 will require preauthorization starting Saturday, when Florida's amended reimbursement manual goes into effect. Stakeholders predict pharmacies will begin sending in an inordinate amount of $999 invoices to get under the threshold — in cases where their medications otherwise slightly exceed the cap — to save time, money and preauthorization hassles.
