When rehabilitation providers don't get paid by insurers or employers, they should request a penalty by using a new form, the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry announced this week.
By law, payers have 30 days to pay or deny charges, and they must explain in writing why any portion of the charges were denied, the department said. If that doesn't happen, rehabilitation providers can request a penalty, but they must use the new form, available on the department's website.
Penalties can be as high as $2,000.
