The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health launched a safety awareness campaign for roofers aimed at reducing the number of workplace incidents of serious injuries and fatalities.
Roofing operations are inherently risky, and the rate of serious and fatal injuries is higher than in other industries, according to the state safety agency commonly known as CalOSHA.
Three out of four of the 126 investigations of roofing operations CalOSHA conducted between 2012 and 2014 found violations of state safety regulations, the agency said in a statement.
