Seven people associated with a private security firm were arrested on 44 felony counts, including workers' compensation premium fraud, the Oakland Tribune reported.
The 118-page affidavit alleges the Black Muslim Temple International Security Services firm submitted bogus bid documents to the Port of Oakland and other agencies, in some cases wining millions of dollars in public contracts. Court papers allege the firm forged insurance and state license documents and also paid workers cash under the table to evade workers' compensation insurance premiums and payroll taxes.
