The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation on Monday announced that a man convicted of working while receiving benefits paid $42,000 in restitution to the agency.
The BWC said it investigated Ashwin Naran after learning of the possibility that he was working as a sales associate for a jeweler while receiving disability benefits.
According to the bureau, the investigation determined that Naran was working and underreporting his income during multiple periods between 2019 and 2021.
As a result, he collected wage-loss benefits he was not eligible to receive.
