The Texas state House of Representatives on Wednesday unanimously passed a bill that would require local governments to provide full-pay salary continuation benefits to injured first responders for up to a year, and would revise some statutes presuming certain conditions are compensable for firefighters, police and emergency medical service workers.
The House voted 146-0 to pass HB 471, by Rep. Jared Patterson, R-Frisco, which would mandate that counties and municipalities provide up to one year of leave with full pay to first responders recovering from an injury.
