Bill Would Require Comp Coverage for Contractors and Subs

Texas, the only state in which workers' compensation coverage is voluntary, would require WC for the construction industry, under a bill filed this week in the state Senate. Senate Bill 163, sponsored by Sen. Jose Rodriguez, D-El Paso, states that building and construction contractors, and their subcontractors, shall provide workers' compensation insurance coverage for each employee.
