The Washington State Department of Labor and Industries would be required to assess workers’ compensation premiums for drivers for transportation network companies such as Uber and Lyft, under a bill pending in the Legislature.
House Bill 2076, by Rep. Liz Berry, D-Seattle, includes a number of provisions relating to rights for people working for companies that use a digital network or other software to connect passengers to drivers for purposes of a prearranged ride.
