Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm (D) has issued an executive order to reduce the number of Workers' Compensation Board of Magistrates to 17 members from 26, effective Jan. 26.The order states that the number of magistrates was reduced from 30 members by a 2003 executive order. "Productivity and caseload justify a further reduction...which will contribute to a smaller and more efficient government," Granholm wrote.The order provides that the change doesn't affect "any suit, action or other proceeding lawfully commenced" before the effective date of the order.
