Bill to Repeal Administrative Pricing Scheduled for Hearing

A bill that would allow Massachusetts workers’ compensation insurers to file rates based on loss costs is scheduled for a May 2 hearing by the legislature’s Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development. Massachusetts’ administrative pricing system does not allow carriers to compete on price. House Bill 1031, by Rep. Paul McMurtry, D-Dedham, would allow carriers to set rates by filing loss cost multipliers with the Insurance Division.
