Two committees of the New York Assembly have called on the State Workers' Compensation Board to shelve a proposal to convert medical fee schedules for the state workers' compensation and no-fault insurance systems to Medicare's Resource-Based Relative Value Scale.
The Assembly Insurance and Labor committees issued a joint position paper on Monday asserting that converting the fee schedules to a Medicare-based system would increase payments for primary care physicians, but would cut fees for some specialties by 40% to 50%.
