Florida’s first responders will have up to a year from the date they are diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder to file a workers’ compensation claim, under a bill Gov. Ron DeSantis enacted Thursday.
The governor signed HB 689, by Rep. Mike Giallombardo, R-Cape Coral, which had unanimous support in both the Senate and the state House of Representatives. While both chambers passed the bill in March, it wasn’t presented to the governor until Wednesday.
