The Oklahoma state House of Representatives passed a measure that would allow first responders to receive workers’ compensation benefits for post-traumatic stress disorder without an accompanying physical injury.
Generally speaking, Oklahoma’s workers’ compensation system doesn’t cover mental injuries or illnesses unless a worker was physically injured or the victim of a violent crime. House Bill 2398 would add an additional exception to the proscription on coverage for mental health injuries for law enforcement workers, firefighters and emergency medical technicians.
