State Stands Out in Number, Usage of Ambulatory Surgery Centers

One quarter of New Jersey workers’ comp claims with more than seven days of lost time included services at ambulatory surgery centers, the highest rate among 18 states reviewed in a new series of studies. In contrast, the percentage of claims with hospital outpatient services in New Jersey was 11%, the second-lowest rate found in the Workers Compensation Research Institute’s CompScope medical benchmark reports released last week.
