9th Circuit Denies Rehearing for Lien-Activation Fee Challenge

The U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has denied reconsideration of its prior finding that California's lien-activation fee passes constitutional muster, leaving a group of plaintiffs led by Angelotti Chiropractic with the U.S. Supreme Court as their last recourse. Christine Baker, the director of the Department of Industrial Relations, on Friday issued an emailed statement saying she was "pleased that the court’s decision allows the department to continue with the workers' compensation reforms as Gov.
