Claim Frequency for Private Self-Insureds Nearly Flat

The frequency of claims filed by employees of private self-insured employers declined slightly in 2013, but a larger portion of those claims were for indemnity benefits, according to a California Workers' Compensation Institute analysis of state data released Tuesday.Data compiled by the Office of Self-Insurance Plans shows an overall claim frequency rate of 3.64 per 100 employees in 2013, down from 3.65 in 2012, CWCI said.
