Bill Would Provide Benefits to Firefighters Hurt During Las Vegas Shooting

A bill filed in the California state Assembly this week would rewrite history in order to make firefighters who were injured while attending to victims of the Oct. 1, 2017, mass shooting in Las Vegas eligible for workers’ compensation benefits. Assembly Bill 932, by Assemblyman Evan Low, D-Cupertino, would add a sentence to Labor Code Section 3600.4 stating that for any claims by firefighters for injuries during the mass shooting, the date of injury will be Jan. 1, 2020.
