Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek enacted a bill that immediately made it a misdemeanor for employers to submit false payroll reports to reduce their workers’ compensation premiums.
The governor on Wednesday signed Senate Bill 1580, by Sen. Kathleen Taylor, D-Milwaukie.
The bill makes it a class A misdemeanor to try to reduce workers’ compensation premiums by knowingly submitting a false payroll report. The maximum penalty for a class A misdemeanor is $6,250.
