A new Colorado law will expand the state’s medical marijuana program to include cannabis as an alternative to opioids, but the new law isn’t expected to open the floodgates to medicinal pot in workers’ comp.
Democrat Gov. Jared Polis last month signed into law Senate Bill 13, which adds to the list of conditions that qualify for medical marijuana use “a condition for which a physician could prescribe an opioid.” The law will take effect Aug. 2.
