The New Mexico House of Representatives passed a bill that would prohibit workers fired for misconduct after returning from an injury from going back on temporary disability or using modifiers to increase their permanent disability benefits.
Lawmakers on Feb. 9 voted 36-27 to pass House Bill 194. The bill was supported by all Republican members who were present and opposed by all but one Democrat.
