California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a bill calling for workplace safety standards covering passenger tramways that also includes provisions clearing up a statutory reference to the definition of “employee” for the purposes of workers’ compensation.
Newsom on Thursday signed Assembly Bill 1766, which requires the Division of Occupational Safety and Health to draft rules for the safe design, manufacture, installation, repair, maintenance, use and inspection of all passenger tramways as it finds necessary for the protection of the general public.
