The 1st District Court of Appeal this week ordered publication of its decision finding that Ace American Insurance Co. did not owe coverage for an insured’s alleged negligence that led to a fatal pipeline explosion.
The court had originally released its opinion for Energy Insurance Mutual Limited v. Ace American Insurance Co. as an unpublished ruling on July 11. Unpublished decisions are not binding precedent in California.
State Farm General Insurance Co. asked the court to order publication of the decision late last month, and the court obliged on Thursday.
