New Insurance Commissioner for Connecticut, Katharine L. Wade, announced the appointment of John Thomson, a department division director, to deputy commissioner.
Thomson joined the Connecticut Insurance Department in 2012 to help develop the Captive Insurance Unit, and has licensed insurers and registered more than 180 risk retention groups, according to a press release from the department.
Prior to joining the department, Thomson was the editor for International Risk Management Institute and the publisher for Captive Insurance Company Reports.
