The Santa Monica City Council is considering a pilot project to test whether a third-party administrator would be more effective than in-house claims handlers for controlling workers’ compensation costs.
Council members were scheduled to discuss and possibly approve a contract with Intercare Holdings Insurance Services Inc. during a meeting on Tuesday. Agenda materials for the meeting indicate the contract would cover three years initially, with two additional one-year renewal options. Total payments over the maximum five-year contract term would be capped at $1.699 million.
