Donegal Group Inc. has reported a net loss of $2.3 million for the second quarter of 2017, which the company attributed to an increase in weather-related losses.
The loss compares to a net income of $8.6 million in the second quarter of 2016. For the first half of the year, Donegal’s net income was $2.79 million, compared to $20.4 million for the first six months of 2016.
Net premiums written increased 7% to $190.8 million in the second quarter, compared to the prior-year quarter, resulting from growth in personal and commercial lines, the company said.
