Assembly Passes Bill Giving Part-Time Domestic Workers Comp Benefits

Housekeepers would no longer have to work full time to qualify for temporary disability benefits, according to a bill approved by the New York Assembly on Tuesday. The chamber approved Assembly Bill A1326 by a vote of 92-46 and sent it to the Senate, where it is now in the Labor Committee. Workers' compensation law requires domestic employees to toil for at least 40 hours a week for 30 or more days in a calendar year to be eligible for temporary benefits.
